SWAROVSKI RUNWAY ROCKS AT “PAST FORWARD” IN BEIJING

Swarovski Runway Rocks, the ultimate collection of couture catwalk jewels, travels to Beijing, to shine at PAST FORWARD, Swarovski’s spectacular, three-day event

Originating in London, in 2003, Runway Rocks is Swarovski’s trailblazing collection of conceptual, barrier-breaking catwalk jewels, specially commissioned by Swarovski from the world’s leading designers and creators of jewellery, fashion and accessories. Each year, tapping into talent around the globe, new creations have been added, continually pushing boundaries of concept, form and meaning, and highlighting the art of the couture catwalk jewel, in which Swarovski crystal has always played a vital role, as the essential creative ingredient. Very much a living project, Runway Rocks has travelled to fashion capitals around the world, including New York, Paris, Tokyo and LA.

Now, a select group of eight dazzling Runway Rocks works of art, including three new creations by Asian designers, will be on show in Beijing as part of PAST FORWARD, Swarovski’s three-day event, a milestone voyage of discovery through every facet of Swarovski’s universe of crystal.

New Runway Rocks jewels, to be unveiled at Beijing, include works by Sarah Ho, a fine jewellery designer, living in London; Linjing, in Beijing and Joseph Li, a Hong Kong fashion designer. These will be joined by masterworks by other Runway Rocks designers:

Drawing on their experience in making catwalk jewellery for Viktor &Rolf, Studio Job has created oversized crystal encrusted charms, made with Swarovski’s cerrulun technique, hung on giant chains. Christopher Kane, London’s latest fashion prodigy, merges fashion and jewellery buckles straps of crystal mesh, around the body; Paris jeweller, Philippe Ferrandis, mixes crystal with his signature slabs of rugged minerals and semi-precious stones, in a stunning body ornament; Brazilian born fashion jewellery designer Rodrigo Otazu plays with volume and shape, for his exuberant neckpiece of crystal covered bubbles; and the leading Tokyo jewellery atelier, Noboru Shionoya, trails torrents of golden crystal linked chain in a floor length cascade of light and movement.
