Swarovski 2009 Limited Edition Watch Collection
Following the high-profile launch of the 2009 Swarovski Watch Collection at Baselworld in March, the company is continuing to establish itself in the world of watchmaking with the release of a limited edition collection.
Characterised by Swarovski’s core values of creativity, innovation and perfection, this unique collection of five watches will be available from October 2009 in selected Swarovski boutiques and watch retailers.
Returning to three of the five emblematic lines from its first watch collection, Swarovski has created two new “Octea Sport” editions, two new renderings of the “Piazza” model, and one new version of the “D:Light” of which only 99 pieces will be available. Each of these exclusive models embodies the creative heritage of Swarovski, while paying tribute to the finest traditions of Swiss watchmaking. The five timepieces employ alternative colours, motifs and materials to innovative and original effect.
Through this new collection, Swarovski is focusing principally on its feminine clientele looking for exclusive and exceptional pieces.
LIMITED EDITION OCTEA SPORT WATCH, 999 PIECES
As the flagship piece in the global launch of Swarovski watches, the “Octea Sport” takes centre stage once more with a choice of ultra fashionable colours. This star is available in two versions, one in blue and one in brown.
These intense colours play on the theme of nature, a source of inspiration also found in the company’s current Autumn-Winter fashion accessory and jewellery collections.
Identical to the original model in terms of design, these new “Octea Sport” versions reveal innovative facets in a watch that combines sporty allure with captivatingly original colouring.
Its unidirectional rotating bezel with bespoke Capri Blue Satin or Smoky Quartz Satin crystal means the “Octea Sport” offers the perfect balance of technical expertise and sophisticated design.
A single crystal is set in a 39 mm rounded steel case, with the precision involved testament to the fact that the world’s leader in cut crystal has collaborated with expert Swiss watchmakers to develop the piece.
The watch comes with a rubber strap that matches the “Soleil” cut crystal bezel and features six exclusive tone-on-tone faceted crystals which have been applied by hand.
With a number of stylish details, the watch is instantly recognisable as a Swarovski piece. The “Octea Sport” proudly bears the company’s logo, the Swan, on its enamel crown and at the 12 o’ clock position on the dial, where it sits alongside the watch’s appliqué indexes, all of which are protected by a non-reflecting sapphire crystal glass. Equally visible, the Swanflower™ motif is engraved on the back of the case as well as appearing on the rubber strap, which features a faceted ardillon buckle.
Water resistant up to 30 metres, this model features a Swiss-made ETA quartz movement. 999 pieces will be available in each of the colours, with the watch transforming the way the modern, urbane female looks at time.
The “Octea Sport”, which has already established itself as an irresistible and timeless Swarovski piece, thus continues its journey in a new colour palette.

LIMITED EDITION PIAZZA WATCH, 999 PIECES
With its unique architectural design, the “Piazza” line offers a choice of particularly poetic limited edition contemporary pieces that will delight the most feminine of women.
Featuring a 36-mm case, this model is characterised by its regular, harmonious lines. The “day and night” pieces are available in either clear or Jet crystal, with the sobriety of the bezel setting off the ultra sophisticated dial.
The clear crystal model features an eye-catching mother of pearl dial in diagonal guilloché with twelve miniature Xilion-cut crystals, twirling between the hand-applied indexes and the faceted hands. Evoking an image of the reflection of two swans on a lake beneath a crystal-studded sky, the delicate Swanflower™ motif appears in a tone-on-tone interpretation in the lower right-hand quarter of the dial, beneath a sapphire crystal watch glass.
The Jet crystal version of the “Piazza” again features the Swanflower™ motif, but in clear crystal it sparkles in contrast against the galvanic dial with a black “Soleil” finish. Like fragments of stars, eight Xilion cut crystals are sprinkled across the dial.
At 12 o’ clock, the two models point straight to the Swan, the company’s logo, which can also be found on the enamel crown. The Swanflower™ design engraved on the back of the black PVD or steel case is similarly discreet.
The strap is made of Crystal Mesh, a famed Swarovski material first developed in 1991, and its miniature clear or Jet crystals bring with them a touch of glamour, as does the elegant matching magnetic clasp.
The two models offer water resistance up to 30 metres and feature a Swiss-made quartz ETA movement. Only 999 pieces are available of each.

LIMITED EDITION D:LIGHT, 99 PIECES
With its first “D:Light” watch, inspired by the concept of Avant Time, Swarovski marked its 2009 entry into the world of watchmaking in dazzling style.
Swarovski has now returned to this exceptional timepiece, which originally featured a steel or gold PVD strap, offering a precious limited edition in 18-carat rose-gold. Only 99 pieces of this remarkable model have been produced.
Featuring 171 Xilion-cut crystals produced especially by Swarovski, the limited edition “D:Light” presents a fusion of clear crystal, white rubber and precious rose-gold.
The piece, which could at first glance be mistaken for an elegant bracelet, hides a movement that has been specially designed by the company. A simple press of the oval push button, which bears a metallic swan on a background of black enamel, illuminates a light through the crystals, emitting a harmonious orange glow that displays the time, before disappearing as if by magic after a few moments.
On the back of the case, Swarovski’s Swanflower™ motif appears in metallic form, and is complemented by the brand’s name on the outside of the strap. In an extension of the case, a modern, comfortable strap in white rubber with an 18 carat rose-gold butterfly clasp offers a sports-style, fashionable twist to this magnificent technology.
With an inductive recharging system housed in a cleanly designed base, the model need only be charged for three hours a month, either connected to a power socket or a computer. When positioned on its base, the “D:Light” also becomes a decorative piece for the home in its own right.
