GLITTERING NIGHT OF ARCHITECTURAL DIALOGUE CELEBRATES CREATIVE USE OF CRYSTAL IN ARCHITECTURE AND LIGHTING

Underlining the company’s position as a creative partner in architecture and lighting, Swarovski, the world leader in the production of precision-cut crystal on Monday April 7, 2008 hosted the archeVISIONS Night during the Light & Building fair in Frankfurt. This exclusive dialogue and dinner event was held at the city’s famed Cocoon Club. Some 140 prominent guests from the world of architecture, interior design and lighting as well as members of the media were present at the glittering event where famous architectural figure Lise Anne Couture was the keynote speaker. The demand for registration and the high attendance was an indication of how representatives from these important sectors are inspired by the unlimited creative possibilities for crystal in a whole range of architectural and lighting applications.

Star guest and keynote speaker was Lise Anne Couture, co-founder of Asymptote New York. Asymptote draws on inspiration, interests and theory including information space, organic systems of fluctuation and change, fusion of real and virtual spaces and explorations and research into new technologies as applied to conceptual work, building design and application. The Canadian-born Couture was thus a great draw card for this architecturally-themed evening. The discussion was moderated by Andrej Kupetz, Managing Director of the German Design Council while keynote speaker and moderator were seated on the Edra Sofa with CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements

Glittering Entrance
Static and animated archeVISIONS Night signage and graphics were displayed on plasma monitors in the entrance area while an interactive floor projection changed images as guest walked across it. Membrane screens presented archeVISIONS Night and Swarovski branding as the guests entered the dinner area.

Design elements reflect endless creative possibilities with crystal
Guests were introduced to some spectacular and unusual architectural features integrated into the Cocoon Club for this special occasion. These included a 6 x 8 meter triangle-shaped ceiling panel with 28 StarLED Deluxe lighting system. The front and the sides of the bar of the club were designed to incorporate asymmetric 25 mm STRASS® Squares with appropriate illumination. Two crystal Cocoons were created by hanging a total of 250 Stainless Steel Crystal Strands using 8 mm, 14 mm and 18 mm Crystal Beads, illuminated using white light. The tables were decorated with Glitterbox table lanterns designed by Georg Baldele from the groundbreaking Swarovski Crystal Palace collection, an initiative by Nadja Swarovski-Adams, which each year invites leading international designers to reinterpret the chandelier.
