CRYSTALLIZED™ Magazine: A New Format, a New Vision and a Burst of New Energy

CRYSTALLIZED Magazine

CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements is proud to announce the re-launch of its premium publication, CRYSTALLIZED™ Magazine. With a new, book-sized format, a new creative vision and cutting-edge fashion photography from eleven renowned photographers, the thirteenth issue celebrates creative families of all kinds.

Since 1895, Swarovski has been a family company that marries avant-garde technology and design with respect for its employees, its business partners and the environment. It is this history and tradition, coupled with the modern glamour of CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements and a long history of working closely with the world of fashion and design that CRYSTALLIZED™ Magazine has been re-launched to celebrate. A new, book-sized format and an emphasis on dramatic photography make the latest issue an unparalleled visual treat and a creative inspiration. The stories focus primarily on the strong relationships between CRYSTALLIZED™ and leading talents in fashion today.

A family in fashion
Much in the same spirit that CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements supports and nurtures its design partners, in this edition, fashion designers from all walks of life speak about their creative families. Legends such as Sonia and Nathalie Rykiel, as well as upcoming talents such as the Mulleavey sisters of Rodarte and knitwear co-operative Sibling, are included in the mix. Shoe designer Bruno Frisoni pays homage to his muse; Antonio Berardi raises a tribute to his partner; Christopher Kane applauds his sister Tammy; and Azzaro’s Vanessa Seward spotlights her label’s new mascot, her cat.

The issue’s numerous fashion pictorials feature design houses using CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements in their work, with dazzling pieces from Prada, Givenchy, Lanvin, Balmain, and Marios Schwab. Close creative partnership also unites the fashion and photography teams. Robert Wyatt and stylist Lucy Ewing not only work together but live together as husband and wife. Stylist Francesca Burns joins forces with her partner Angelo Penetta to produce some of the issue’s most alluring pictures. CRYSTALLIZED™’s new fashion director Sophia Neophitou calls upon some of her most trusted collaborators, including stylist Hector Castro, to create cohesion and harmony throughout the many different visual styles represented in the magazine.

A family of innovators
Trends and innovations remain a special focus. Astonishing stop-motion photography and strong close-ups by John Ross reveal the season’s new raft of CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements in extraordinary detail. Whimsical still-life images offer a beautiful interpretation of the surge in creativity and design reorientations predicted for Autumn/Winter 20010/11.

A brave new approach to photography
With the magazine’s new format comes a new approach to featuring fashion stories. To emphasize how fashion finds its way into every aspect of our lives, the editorial team scatters individual photographs throughout CRYSTALLIZED™’s pages. Like stumbled-upon treasures, these pictures by such prominent talents as Robert Wyatt, Paul Wetherell, Serge Leblon, Sofia Sanchez and Mauro Mongiello, and the art photographer Tierney Gearon, surprise in both their form and content.

In sum, CRYSTALLIZED™ Issue 13 is a scintillating reflection of the best that fashion has to offer – and a thank you to all the creative talents that work in its domain.

Crystallized™ Issue 13 is available in September 2009.
