Those ‘masters of jersey’ Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra, now in their second season of collaboration with Swarovski, promise that S/S ’10 is all about ‘Beauty for Beauty’s sake’; and CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements are integral to this, threaded through the fabric of dresses. ‘We are using large crystals to make a big statement, with trompe l’oeil decoration giving the impression that the crystal is growing with the garment,’ say Costello Tagliapietra. ‘The collection will feature Japanese kimono-inspired wrap dresses, encrusting crystal into them to combine fashion and jewellery in one collection.’ In the couture tradition, Twist stones and Briolette beads are hand-sewn, including Crystal Golden Shadow, Mocca, Crystal Copper and Crystal Red Magma. ‘We love the large CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements because they are not like conventional embellishment,’ add the designers.
