Dalmatian Pelicans on an artificial breeding platform, Srebena, Bulgaria
With a wingspan of over three metres, the majestic Dalmatian pelican is one of Europe’s largest birds, but its existence is in peril. Swarovski has partnered with a local organisation (Le Balkan) to preserve one of the last breeding colonies beside Lake Srebarna in Bulgaria by building new breeding platforms that prevent nesting birds from drowning and protect the young from predators.
